This trek is choice for those trekkers who want to explore most amazing and unseen scenery of eastern Himalayas and wonder to step in base camp of Mt. Makalu. This region is still very untouched and an irregular trekking area which is very close to the Everest region in east side. This trek starts using flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar meeting our crew or after flying from Kathmandu to Biratnagar transfers to jeeps for the journey up to Hille and make approach to Arun valley.
Makalu Base Camp trekking trail towards along the bank of Arun River and trekking is known as Arun Valley Trek too. This Arun river rises in Tibet and consists of snow melt waters from the Northern flanks of the Everest and Kanchanjunga. This Makalu region trek passes through the wild and remote Makalu Barun national Park and the continuous Makalu Barun Conservation Area, which forms a protective buffer zone in the inhabited to stem the growing human pressure around the base camp area and preserve one of the most biologically diverse areas. We cross Shipton La at 4,216m. into the remote and beautiful Barun river valley before arriving at Makalu Base Camp. Along the trail there are superb views of the south face of Makalu, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Chamlang, Mt. Kanchenjunga and meet various culture, ethnic group and villages are additional atraction of this trek.
Makalu Trek Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport, meet our staff then transfers to Hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu free.
Day 03: Fly to Biratnagar then drive to Hile (1850m.) O/N
Day 04: Hile – Leguwa Ghat.
Day 05: Leguwa Ghat – Tumlingtar (460m.).
Day 06: Tumlingtar – Bhote Bash.
Day 07: Bhote Baas – Num (1490m.)
Day 08: Num – Tashi Gaun (2070m.)
Day 09: Tashi Gaun – Kauma (3470m.)
Day 10: Kauma – Mumbuk 3570m.)
Day 11: Mumbuk – Ripuck Kharka.
Day 12: Ripuck Kharka – Mera.
Day 13: Mera – Makalu Base Camp (5000m.)
Day 14: Makalu BC rest & hiking.
Day 15: Makalu BC – Jarkharka.
Day 16: Jarkharka – Yangri Kharka.
Day 17: Yangri Kharka – Keke-La.
Day 18: Keke-La – Tashi Village (2070m.)
Day 19: Tashi Village – Mure.
Day 20: Mure – Bhote Baas.
Day 21: Bhote Baas – Tumlingtar.
Day 22: Tumlingtar – Kathmandu by flight then transfer to Hotel.
Day 23: Kathmandu Free & rest.
Day 24: Last minute, transfer to Airport for your onward journey.

Expenses For Trek to Makalu: The cost for the adventure trekking to Makalu will depend on several different factors. The types of accommodation you prefer in Kathmandu and during the trek will make a difference to the overall cost (Budget to 5 star accommodations). The mode of transport you prefer will also affect the cost of your package trip, for example prices vary greatly between flying versus private car/van, tourist or local buses. The camping trek and teahouse trek made a difference in the cost. The number of guide, assistant guides and porters required will also affect the total cost of the trek. For these reasons on the same Makalu trekking/tour can vary in price quite substantially. |
