Pokhalde Peak lise in Everest region, which is most papular trekking peaks in Nepal. Pokhalde Peak looks like a crenulated rocky ridge dominated by the vast bulk of Nuptse situated 12 km southwest of Mount Everest. The mountain has a small hanging glacier, which reached along the ridge rising from the Khongma La, on its northern side. The last 50 meters to the top is rather steep so may need a rope. This mountain was first climbed in 1953 by a route from the Kongma La along its North-ridge. Despite its relatively low altitude the mountain's first successful climbers were giants of the mountaineering world, a fact that is true of many of the Trekking peaks.
This rocky peak is scarcely covered by snow during the snowy season. Despite its lack of any great technical difficulty, it offers trekkers the prospect of reaching 5800 meters in elevation and superb views from the summit, particularly to the South East, North West and West. Other prominent mountains visible from the summit include Makalu, Ama Dablam and Pumori. Because of its relatively low difficulty and impressive summit vista's for this altitude, Pokhalde is a popular commercial tourist peak in Nepal for those wishing to climb a Himalayan peak without needing to use ice axes and crampons.
